    GO WOODEX, País Vasco: Ensayos de variabilidad dimensional con madera de Pinus radiata

    El factor diferencial para el uso de la madera de Pinus radiata en este tipo de productos resulta ser la variabilidad dimensional de la madera, debido a su capacidad de absorber agua en condiciones húmedas. Los ciclos de absorción y secado de agua hacen que en la madera aparezcan fendas, torceduras, acebolladuras, etc. que hacen que el producto se transforme en su apariencia, sin que ello implique necesariamente un deterioro del material. Debido al tipo de mercado al que se quiere orientar el uso de la madera, este es el factor que se estudia en este proyecto, de cara a poder tomar una decisión adecuada a la hora de optar por una solución industrializada. En cuanto a los resultados de variación dimensional, la madera termotratada ha sido notablemente superior al resto de maderas, presentando un comportamiento muy estable.
