Impact of antiparasitics on the environment

To control the parasitic load of animals, dewormers are regularly administered. After passing through the animals' digestive system, the active ingredients are partly eliminated in the manure, potentially disrupting the ecosystem responsible for breaking it down. Some studies are being conducted to measure the effects and consequences.

FACTSHEET NANOCELLULOSE MEMBRANES FOR NUTRIENT RECOVERY Key information Functionalized nanocellulose membranes can take up nitrate and phosphate. These membranes can be put in a water treatment unit. As the membranes are biobased, degradable materials, they can after use be added to the soil, thus returning the leached nutrients back for their original purpose providing fertilizers (nutrient recycling).
