In 2020 heeft het Rijk samen met de provincies de inmiddels welbekende Bossenstrategie opgesteld. Hierin staan onder andere de volgende ambities voor het Nederlandse bos: uitbreiding van het areaal met 37.400 hectare en, waar nodig, revitalisering van bestaande bossen. In het Nationaal en Provinciaal Programma Landelijk Gebied worden aanvullende ambities beschreven voor verbetering van de natuurkwaliteit. Om de ambities, zoals de revitaliseringsopgaven, te kwantificeren, benodigde maatregelen te formuleren en beheer te evalueren, is informatie nodig over de huidige status en de ontwikkelingen van het bos. Bosinventarisaties vervullen een essentiële rol in het verschaffen van deze informatie en maken het mogelijk het beheer en de gestelde doelen objectief en systematisch te evalueren.

BIOEAST Initiative, the CEE countries’ Initiative for Knowledge-based Agriculture, Aquaculture and Forestry in the Bioeconomy, was established in 2016 to provide a political platform for the CEE countries to strengthen research and innovation cooperation and to enhance participation in the shaping of the European Research Area’s (ERA) policy and framework programme. The BIOEAST Initiative was founded by the Ministers of Agriculture of Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovenia. The BIOEAST Initiative represents the common political commitment and shared strategic research and innovation framework for working towards sustainable and circular bioeconomies in the CEE countries.
